About Victoza®
Victoza® is considered a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, which functions by improving blood glucose control, as well as insulin levels in the body. Like any glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, this medication can only be used for type 2 diabetes. It is ineffective against type 1 diabetes because it will not inject actual insulin into the body.
Some conditions that Victoza® is known to treat include type 2 diabetes, including cases where the patient has a high risk for cardiovascular disease. Victoza® is available only by prescription. This drug is currently not available in any generic forms.
